I hold valid status in the USA (F-1, H-1B, L-1 etc…) do I still need to apply for a visa to visit Canada?
Yes. Only permanent residents of the USA are exempt from the requirement to obtain a visa to visit Canada. If you do not hold evidence of your permanent resident status in the USA - a valid Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) or I-551 endorsement in your passport - you are not exempt from the requirement to obtain a visa to travel to Canada. An interview with a Visa Officer is neither a right or a requirement. In most cases, the Visa Officer will make a decision based on the information available at the time the application is reviewed. |
